METAL GEAR SOLID: TRUE FANS FORUM

Full Version: The only two Uncovered Plot-Holes i've found in MGS

1: Ever notice how the Guard Johnny in MGS1 (The guard that guards you in the torture chamber, and also the one that Meryl knocks out) that appears in all of the Sequels, Can be killed without activating a paradox?

When you bust out of the cell (Using Ketchup, or the Ninja releases you etc) - Kill the guard, This is a paradox as he is in MGS4 (Johnny Akiba) and saves Meryl's life.

ALSO

In MGS 4 - Para-Medic from MGS3 is named as one of the Patriots as Dr.Clarke from MGS1 who did the Genome research on Grey Fox (Cyborg Ninja) - But in a Codec call to Naomi she refers to Dr.Clarke as a 'He' Indicating a male when Para-Medic is female.*

*The codec call is just after defeating the Ninja, and Naomi reveals that he wasn't killed in Zanzibar, but revived and experimented on by Dr.Clarke

I always thought, that Johnny in MGS2/4 was the son of Johnny of MGS1, which is the son of Johnny from MGS3.

1. Kojima didn`t plan to do a sequel after MGS so killing Johnny or not wouldn`t be important, And that Johnny could be the father of Akiba.

2. I don`t remember Naomi reffering to Clark as a "He". I only remember she said: "My predecessor dr Clark." Which means that it could be both.
Akiba from MGS4 - Says " Careful, i'm no rookie - i'm a 10 year vet" - MGS4 Is set 10 years post Shadow Moses - Also he say's to Meryl that he fell in love with her from the first time he saw her at Shadow Moses And Silent Assassin I did put which Codec call she refers to Dr.Clarke as a 'He' - I was playing MGS1 at the time and noticed it, hence the post. Go play it through, defeat the ninja and read the codec call

Akiba is NOT johnny's son - He is Johnny
Akiba is Johnny from Shadow Moses. There are even flashbacks when he`s introduced.
I don`t know why I wrote what I did, since I remember that near the end of the game, he said to Mery that ever since he first saw her, he wanted to be with her. There`s even a flashback when he said that showing him on Shadow Moses.
But I really don`t remember Naomi callind Clark he. I didn`t replay MGS after I played MGS4, so it didn`t catch my eye.
There are a few holes like that in MGS games. Like , before MGS3 was released, it was thought that Big Boss lost his eye in the eighties.
The story of MGS was developing as the games were releasing. At the end of MGS3 creation the real time base was set. So anything before is kinda of mark and unreliable.
Keep in mind that Kojima never intended to work on MGS2.
I know that Kojima never intended to work on MGS2, But i still find these things quite interesting - kinda proves that even Kojima is Human Tongue

And Silent Assassin - I promise you it's there, also, in a few other conversations, Dr. Clarke is referred to in the person as 'Him' and 'His'

It might just be my copy of the game - If it doesn't appear like that in yours that's fair enough.

Also there's a Historical inaccuracy in MGS3 - The game is set in 1962 but the Snow Camo wasn't invented until 1972 by Robert Hoague

Please don't get me wrong - I do not point out such flaws out of spite for the game, I point them out because i think it helps prove my arrogance about MGS - I'm very much in love with the game - I've completed each game (Inc. 4) On at least Hard difficulty and MGS 2+3 i've unlocked every extra.
No problem. If you like the game, you have to know it`s faults too.
I don`t think it`s your copy of he game. I just didn`t pay much attention to it when I played MGS.
Kojima just had to make some modifications to fit everything into MGS4.

Theres a description therefore in the MGS4 Database!
Naomi referred Dr. Clark to be a man, because she hardly knew anything about that person.

Historical inaccuracy...if you look, you will find a hundred things which do not fit with the dates...so..

The entire Metal Gear Saga is a paradox thats what makes it so freakin awesome.
How is the whole saga a pardox?
It is not. It is a proof that even great minds have loopholes.

Nothing you should be worried.
Compared to most games of this genre - MGS is quite accurate to real life - for example: In each game they make references to real life events (E.g. - President Kenedy's assassination in MGS3)

Most games would create thier own timeline with disregard to real time.

This makes MGS both respecatable as well as enjoyable.

I don't get what's humorous?

If you read through the MSG4 Database it reveals every hole in the story. Like how Naomi just thought that Dr. Clarke was a man because of the name
